Senior Consultant – 2014. Advises organizations in the design and management of online financial education and training programs. Provides needs analysis, instructional design, exceptional writing, subject-matter expertise, and project management. Website: 809financialeducation.com.

KAPLAN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING EDUCATION – Chicago, IL
Executive Director of Academics – 2012 to 2014. Led the development and launch of a new professional development product line devoted to business skill development in the areas of finance, project management, leadership, sales, and customer service.

KAPLAN FINANCIAL EDUCATION – Chicago, IL
Director of Insurance Product Development – 2009 to 2012. Grew insurance continuing education product line while meeting the challenge of new federal financial and consumer protection reforms. Launched companion insurance professional development programs.

Editorial director – 2005 to 2008. Managed the integration of an acquired company’s portfolio of 32 financial services training programs into larger product portfolio.

Tax Writer – 1997 to 2001. Wrote popular Bottom Line on Taxes Internet column including “Ask the Expert” tax advice feature carried in online editions of the Baltimore Sun, Chicago Tribune, Hartford Courant, Long Island Newsday, Los Angeles Times, Newport News VA Daily Press, Orlando Sentinel, and South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

CCH INCORPORATED – Business and tax law publisher – Riverwoods, IL
Senior Writer-Analyst – 1993 to 1996. Designed company’s first multi-media product: the award-winning “IRS Hot Buttons.” Wrote syndicated tax column for UPI and gave seminars and press briefings (quoted in Money magazine, Investors’ Business Daily, Chicago Sun-Times).

Managing editor – 1991 to 1993. Established two new departments: one to publish over 350 books and training products, another to create first expert systems in the tax industry. Supervised and trained 25 writers.

Writer – 1984 to 1991. Wrote best-selling, easy-to-read tax planning booklets.

Founded neighborhood soccer league serving 500 children and continued as board member, coach, and referee.

Mediation and training:

Mediator and trainer – Center for Conflict Resolution – 1983 to 1992. Mediated neighborhood disputes, trained volunteer mediators, and chaired peer review committee.

Arts:

Wrote novel – 2014. Wrote four stage plays, one screenplay, and one teleplay – 1987 to 1992. Improvisational acting at Players Workshop of Second City – 1987. Graphic arts, piano, guitar and folk dancing.
